This 9-day safari and beach holiday is designed for travellers who want a substantial safari experience while still reserving plenty of time to enjoy Diani Beach.

Beginning in Nairobi, travel south to Amboseli National Park, where elephant herds roam against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, continue into Tsavo West, a dramatically different landscape characterised by volcanic terrain, hills, lava formations, springs and expansive wilderness.

Your safari then crosses into Tsavo East, famous for its immense open landscapes, red soil and wildlife before the route continues naturally toward Kenya's Indian Ocean coast.

The final four nights are spent in Diani Beach, creating an almost perfect balance between safari adventure and tropical relaxation.

This programme follows a natural geographical route from Nairobi through southern Kenya to Diani Beach and can be customised around your preferred pace, accommodation and interests.

Day 01

Nairobi → Amboseli National Park

Meet your professional driver-guide in Nairobi and depart in your private 4x4 Safari Land Cruiser for Amboseli National Park.

Travel south through the changing landscapes toward Kilimanjaro country. After arrival, check into your selected lodge or tented camp and enjoy your first wildlife experience according to your arrival time.

Day 02

Full-Day Amboseli National Park Safari

Spend a complete day exploring Amboseli in your private safari vehicle. The park is particularly famous for its elephant herds and its spectacular views toward Mount Kilimanjaro when weather conditions are favourable.

Explore the plains, wetlands and woodland areas in search of elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and other wildlife.

Your private vehicle allows the day's game drives to be adjusted around wildlife activity and your own interests.

Day 03

Amboseli → Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, leave Amboseli and travel toward Tsavo West, continuing your private safari through one of Kenya's most dramatic wilderness landscapes.

Tsavo West contrasts beautifully with Amboseli. Its terrain includes hills, volcanic formations, lava landscapes, natural springs and extensive wilderness.

Enjoy wildlife viewing according to your arrival time before continuing to your selected safari lodge or camp.

Day 04

Tsavo West → Tsavo East National Park

Begin with further exploration of Tsavo West before continuing toward Tsavo East National Park.

The transition between the two Tsavo parks reveals just how varied this enormous wilderness ecosystem can be. Tsavo East opens into broad horizons and characteristic red-earth landscapes.

Continue with wildlife viewing before arriving at your lodge or tented camp for your final safari night.

Day 05

Tsavo East Safari → Diani Beach

Enjoy your final morning in the wilderness with further wildlife viewing as you travel through Tsavo East.

After completing the safari portion of your holiday, continue toward Kenya's coast and Diani Beach.

Arrive at your selected beach hotel or resort and settle in for the second half of your holiday. The scenery has now changed completely — from red-earth wilderness to white sand, palm trees and the Indian Ocean.

Diani Beach — Full Day at Leisure

Enjoy your first complete day in Diani Beach with no safari schedule and no long journey ahead.

Relax beside the Indian Ocean, swim, walk along the beach, enjoy your resort facilities or simply spend the day at your own pace.

Day 07

Diani Beach — Leisure or Optional Coastal Experience

Spend another relaxing day on the coast or add an optional experience to your personalised programme.

Possible additions include Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park, Shimba Hills and Sheldrick Falls, Funzi Island, private boat experiences, marine activities or selected cultural excursions.

Day 08

Diani Beach — Final Full Beach Day

Your final full day is deliberately left unhurried. Relax on Diani Beach, enjoy the Indian Ocean and make the most of your selected hotel or resort.

Alternatively, we can incorporate another coastal experience if you prefer a more active beach holiday.

Safari Naturally Progressing Toward Diani Beach

 

The great advantage of this itinerary is its geographical flow. Rather than returning to Nairobi after your safari, the route moves progressively toward Kenya's coast: Nairobi to Amboseli, Amboseli to Tsavo West, Tsavo West to Tsavo East and finally onward to Diani Beach.

For this particular programme, a private road transfer from Tsavo East toward Diani Beach is normally the most natural option.

However, our safari and beach holidays remain flexible. Depending on the final itinerary, available schedules and your preferences, transfers can also be arranged using the SGR or domestic flights.
