More Time Where Kenya's Wildlife Takes Centre Stage

This four-day private safari is designed for travellers who want to experience Maasai Mara at a more relaxed pace rather than rushing through several destinations.

By spending all three nights in the Mara, you gain two complete days dedicated to game drives in addition to wildlife viewing on your arrival day.

Maasai Mara is one of Africa's most celebrated wildlife ecosystems, renowned for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and extraordinary concentrations of plains game.

During the seasonal Great Migration, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra may enter the greater Mara ecosystem, accompanied by intense predator activity and some of East Africa's most dramatic wildlife encounters.

Three nights in Maasai Mara means less rushing, two complete game-viewing days and considerably more time to follow wildlife movements across this extraordinary ecosystem.
Safari Highlights

Why Spend Three Nights in Maasai Mara?

An extended stay gives you more time for wildlife behaviour, photography, predator searches and exploration of different areas of the Mara.

02 Two Full Safari Days

Days 2 and 3 are dedicated entirely to Maasai Mara game viewing, giving you much greater freedom to explore.

03 Big Cats

Search for lions, cheetahs and elusive leopards across the Mara's grasslands, river systems and woodland habitats.

04 Great Migration Ecosystem

During migration season, large wildebeest and zebra herds may move through different areas of the greater Mara ecosystem.

05 Private 4x4 Safari

Travel exclusively with your own party and professional driver-guide in a Safari Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof.

06 Photography Time

The extended stay allows more time to wait at exceptional sightings and observe natural wildlife behaviour.

A deliberately simple route designed to maximise your time inside the Maasai Mara ecosystem.

Day 1 Nairobi → Maasai Mara
Day 2 Full-Day Maasai Mara
Day 3 Full-Day Maasai Mara
Day 4 Maasai Mara → Nairobi
Day-by-Day Safari

4 Days / 3 Nights Maasai Mara Safari Itinerary

Three nights in Maasai Mara provide two full days of private game drives and a significantly deeper safari experience than a shorter express itinerary.

Day 01

Nairobi → Maasai Mara

Great Rift Valley · Maasai Country · Afternoon Game Drive

Your private safari begins with collection from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport according to your confirmed arrangements.

Meet your professional safari driver-guide and depart Nairobi in your exclusive 4x4 Safari Land Cruiser, travelling toward the Great Rift Valley and onward to Maasai Mara.

As the journey continues southwest, the landscape gradually changes into the rolling grasslands associated with Maasai country and the greater Mara ecosystem.

Arrive at your selected lodge or tented camp for check-in and lunch according to your confirmed schedule.

Later, depart on your first Maasai Mara game drive. Search the savannah for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and antelopes while watching carefully for predators.

Lions are among the Mara's most celebrated residents, while cheetahs favour open areas and leopards may be encountered around suitable riverine and woodland habitats.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and your first overnight in Maasai Mara.

Day 1: Lunch and dinner according to your confirmed package. First overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 02

Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Big Five · Predators · Savannah · Wildlife Photography

After breakfast, begin your first complete day dedicated to exploring Maasai Mara.

Without a major road transfer today, you have the freedom to spend considerably more time following wildlife movements and exploring different habitats.

Search for lions, cheetahs and leopards alongside elephants, buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, warthogs and numerous species of antelope.

Your private vehicle allows your driver-guide to adapt the game drive according to current wildlife activity and your personal interests.

When an exceptional sighting develops, there is greater flexibility to remain and observe the animals rather than immediately moving on according to a shared group schedule.

Depending on your confirmed programme, enjoy a picnic lunch in the reserve or return to your lodge or camp before continuing with afternoon game viewing.

Return to your accommodation for dinner and your second overnight in Maasai Mara.

Day 2: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Second overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 03

Second Full Day in Maasai Mara

Great Migration Ecosystem · Big Cats · Extended Game Viewing

Your third day provides another complete opportunity to explore Maasai Mara without the pressure of travelling to another park.

The additional day allows your driver-guide to explore different areas according to wildlife movements, recent sightings, road conditions and seasonal concentrations of animals.

You may spend time following a lion pride, searching for cheetahs on the open plains, looking for leopards near riverine habitats or simply observing elephant families and large concentrations of plains game.

During the seasonal Great Migration, your guide may concentrate on areas where wildebeest and zebra herds are currently located. The exact movement of the herds depends on rainfall, grazing conditions and other natural factors.

River crossings are among the migration's most famous events, but they are spontaneous natural occurrences and cannot be scheduled or guaranteed.

For photographers and serious wildlife enthusiasts, this second full day is particularly valuable because it provides more time to observe animal behaviour and wait for photographic opportunities.

An optional early-morning hot-air balloon safari can also be arranged in advance, subject to availability and additional cost.

Return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and your final overnight in Maasai Mara.

Day 3: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Third overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 04

Maasai Mara → Nairobi

Final Safari Morning · Great Rift Valley · Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast during your final morning in Maasai Mara.

Depending on your confirmed departure schedule, there may be an opportunity for final wildlife viewing before leaving the Mara ecosystem.

The cooler morning hours can provide another chance to encounter active wildlife and enjoy the atmosphere of the savannah before beginning the journey back to Nairobi.

Depart Maasai Mara and travel through the Kenyan countryside and Great Rift Valley toward Nairobi.

Upon arrival, your driver-guide will transfer you to your confirmed Nairobi hotel, residence or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Your four-day private Maasai Mara safari concludes in Nairobi.

Day 4: Breakfast and other meals according to your confirmed package. Final drop-off in Nairobi.

4-Day Maasai Mara Safari FAQs

How many nights do we spend in Maasai Mara?

You spend all three safari nights in Maasai Mara, providing two complete days for game drives in addition to wildlife viewing on your arrival day.

Why choose four days instead of a shorter Maasai Mara safari?

The additional night provides more time for wildlife viewing and allows two full days in Maasai Mara without a major road transfer. This creates a more relaxed and immersive safari experience.

Can we see the Great Migration?

Maasai Mara forms part of the annual Great Migration ecosystem. Large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra may be present during the migration season, but their timing and exact location depend on rainfall and other natural conditions.

Are Mara River crossings guaranteed?

Can we see lions, leopards and cheetahs?

Maasai Mara supports populations of lions, leopards and cheetahs and is one of Africa's outstanding big-cat destinations. However, all wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.

Can we add a hot-air balloon safari?

Yes. An early-morning Maasai Mara hot-air balloon safari can be arranged in advance subject to availability and additional cost.

Is the safari private?

Yes. Your Safari Land Cruiser and professional driver-guide are reserved exclusively for your travelling party.

Where does the safari start and finish?

The safari begins in Nairobi on Day 1 and returns to Nairobi on Day 4. Collection and final drop-off are arranged according to your confirmed booking.
